The virtual campaign of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims

Since 1995, the Federation of road traffic victims has been commemorating the millions of victims of road traffic accidents on November 21 every year. On October 26, 2005, the United Nations approved and named the third Sunday of November every year as the International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Road Traffic Accidents.

Holding the ceremony of this day, in addition to fulfilling a humane and moral duty towards the affected group of the society, is considered a preventive warning to all those who travel on the roads in some way. This occasion reminds all people that road traffic accidents impose heavy material and spiritual costs on the society and that accidents can be prevented by spending little money.

The third year of the new decade of this memorial (2021-2030) aims to remember all the people who have been killed or injured on the roads, appreciate the vital actions of the emergency services, improve laws and rights, and support the victims of road traffic accidents and their families. Evidence-based measures have been initiated to prevent, reduce and ultimately stop more deaths and injuries in road traffic accidents. The slogan of this year’s memorial to victims of road traffic accidents is road traffic injuries, the main killer of people aged 5 to 25.

The virtual campaign of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDR) with the aim of raising awareness and educating especially children and teenagers will be held by a group of specialists, experts and students of health in emergencies and disasters from November 19 to 24, 2023.
